This documentary wikipedia is a user-generated, up-to-date online resource based on the free MediaWiki software. It is directly connected to the online project reelisor, a European network for documentary professionals. Everybody interested and/or qualified in the doc film business is welcome to contribute to this knowledge base.

You can edit any page where you can see an edit link or which has a red title. You don't have to be logged in. The changes you make will show on the page as soon as you save it.
You don't have to limit your writings to already existing pages. You can also start a new page on a new topic related to the documentary film business. But please note, you should hold the rights on those texts!
Read more about starting new pages in the MediaWiki Handbook.
You want to write about something, but you are unsure which topic you would like to start with? On the page Wanted Articles you find a list of articles which need to be edited as they are already linked to other pages. It's really simple: Just click on the red title and fill the page with knowledge.
The wiki markup is the syntax system you can use to format the "reel wiki". You don't have to be a programmer or know HTML, php, CSS. There is an easy guide here with all you need to know on links and URLs, character formatting, text formatting, tables and templates: Formatting Guide
Please note: The image upload is disabled on the "reel wiki" for the forseeable future.
The bigger the wiki gets, the more important are website standards and quality assurance. For example to write more than one line on a topic or to use full sentences. Empty pages are very annoying for all of us. We should try to avoid them, but in the first weeks and months, this will be really difficult. Please be patient with all of us and give us time to let the wiki grow.
Categories help us to get more structure in those masses of articles. It is possible to assign an article to one or even more categories and/or sub-categories. But having too many categories is rather counterproductive.
Please always check the already existing categories before creating a new one: Special:Categories
A page can be put in a category by adding a category tag to the page (by convention, at the end of the page), e.g.:
[[Category:Category name]]
You can create a new category simply by adding a new category name.
