DOCU-SOAP
A docusoap is a type of reality television program where the viewer and the camera are passive observers following people going about their daily personal and professional activities. The "plots" which are compiled for the program often resemble soap operas, hence the description docusoap.
As usual, documentaries will be quite prominent on ZDF. In fact, information programs make up almost 50 percent of the schedule. The public broadcaster programs classic documen-taries like “Sphinx” on Sundays, and science or contemporary historical documentaries on Tuesdays, with titles like “The Future Is Wild” or “Stalingrad”. This year, "we will continue with this type of programming," affirms Bellut. He adds that the thriving docu-soaps will not be omitted from the schedule. "ZDF was the first one to introduce the so-called docu-soaps to the German audience. “Airport”, “Im Netz der Mordkommission” and “O.P.- Schicksale im Klinikum” were some of our highest-performing docu-soaps. In October, we will have another one, called “Kinderklinik”, notes Bellut.
